Holiday booked. Bags packed. IT covered?
Before you switch on your out-of-office and head for the airport, we’ve put together a quick checklist to help keep your business protected while you’re away. Nothing complicated. Just a few simple things worth checking.

Passwords are strong, unique and not shared between systems.
Any former employees have had their accounts removed.
Antivirus and security software are up to date.
Devices
Laptops and mobile devices are protected with passwords or biometrics.
Important devices won’t be left unattended in vehicles or public places.
Software updates have been installed on key business devices.
If you’re travelling abroad, check you’ll still be able to access your business systems, email and applications from your destination.
Data & Backups
Critical business data is backed up.
Backup systems have been checked recently.
Important files are stored securely rather than only on individual devices.
Email & Cyber Awareness
Staff know who to contact if they receive a suspicious email.
Out-of-office messages don’t contain sensitive information.
Teams are aware that cyber criminals often target businesses during holiday periods.
Business Continuity
Key contacts and suppliers are documented.
Someone knows who to contact if an IT issue arises while you’re away.

One last check...
If you’re unsure about any of the above, now is a good time to review it before you depart.
A few simple checks today can help avoid a stressful phone call from the beach tomorrow.
Most people already know they should be doing these things. They’re often just too busy running the business to stop and check everything is working as it should. That’s where we can help.
Want a second opinion on your IT before you head off?
We offer a no-obligation IT Check-In with our team. No jargon, just a straightforward conversation about what’s working well and where there may be opportunities to improve.
